Philippines Hosts the 4th AVEG Meeting

Quezon City, 27 November 2018 – The Philippines through the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Animal Industry hosts the 4th ASEAN Veterinary Epidemiology Group (AVEG) Meeting from November 27 to 29, 2018. The international meeting sponsored by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), was attended by veterinary officers from ASEAN Member States including Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. A representative from the ASEAN+3 Field Epidemiology Training Network (FETN) and Philippines’ Field Epidemiology Training Program (DOH-FETP) also graced the event.

 The meeting aims update the progress on the implementation of the Regional Strategic Framework for Veterinary Epidemiology Capacity Development and Networking in ASEAN (Epi Framework) and the link with Strategic Plan of Action (SPA) for the ASEAN Cooperation in Livestock. It also seeks to discuss ways forward for building functional national and regional epidemiology capacities and networks, strengthening collaboration between animal health and human health sector, and the possibility to expand the cooperation with ASEAN+3 countries and South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). ### (Dr. Maria Glofezita O.
