After a week-long orientation and workshop, the Philippine team presented the draft proposal on animal health to the Asia Pacific participants and officials of the World Health Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and Australian Department of Agriculture. The said proposal aims to strengthen the veterinary services in the Philippines. The plan seeks to train local veterinary officers on critical competencies of their veterinary services and to support capacity building for Veterinary laboratories and animal health workers. BAI Director Ronnie Domingo is optimistic that funding support will be extended to the Philippines by donor agencies. If approved, the program will run from January 2020 to June 2021. BAI Animal Health and Welfare Division Head, Dr Samuel Castro, and Quezon Provincial Veterinarian, DrFlomellaCaguicla, assisted the Director Domingo in crafting the local plan. Former BAI Director, DrRubinaCresencio, was invited by OIE to serve as one of the external experts for the workshop.
